Jicht en voetklachten: een onlosmakelijke combinatie

Samenvatting

Jicht is de meest voorkomende gewrichtsaandoening in Nederland waarbij veelal het MTP1-gewricht ontstoken is. Jicht kan op de lange termijn ernstige gewrichtsschade en veranderingen in de huid veroorzaken waardoor voetpijn, chronische wonden en/of standsafwijkingen ontstaan. Ook is het een risicofactor voor hart- en vaatziekten. Jicht is behandelbaar met medicamenteuze interventie en leefstijlaanpassingen waardoor (voet)gewrichtsontstekingen en huidafwijkingen worden voorkomen en mensen weer prettiger kunnen lopen.
