4. Is er toekomstperspectief voor de ‘doctor’s doctor’? ofwel: Samen verder, ja gezellig!

Samenvatting

Zoals aan het begin van dit betoog gezegd: gigantische veranderingen blijven zich voordoen in de geneeskunde, zeker ook in de radiologie. Het is mijns inziens absoluut essentieel dat imaging de ‘spin in het diagnostische web’ blijft. Wij moeten dus mee met deze koerswijziging van volume naar waarde. Het zal gebruikelijk worden dat de patiënt, en dus de maatschappij, de medische wereld zal afrekenen op waarde. Hoe waardevol is elke medische handeling als bijdrage aan de gezondheid van de bevolking, dus niet meer het individu. Dit kan alleen maar als er bilateraal overleg optreedt en vertrouwen ontstaat. Voor imaging kan dat alleen maar betekenen dat wij erbij zijn, ‘24/7 value added imaging’. Kortom: ‘If you are not at the table, you are likely to be the main course.’
