Abstract

Reumanoduli vormen een extra-articulaire manifestatie van reumatoïde artritis (RA) en kunnen bij tot 25% van de RA-patiënten gevonden worden (1). Dit is vooral het geval bij patiënten met actieve ziekte. Een reumanodulus bestaat uit drie histologische zones: een centrale zone gekenmerkt door necrose, een palissadering bestaande uit vooral macrofagen en een buitenste zone met perivasculaire mononucleaire celinfiltratie (1). Men neemt aan dat de reumanodulus een uiting is van vasculitis van de kleine bloedvaten met fibrinoïde necrose.
