In addition, he had the personality to deal with the possibility of finding and reporting results that could have reflected poorly on our programs. He was “a tough kid from Brooklyn” with whom you could not “mess,” that is, I knew that potential pressure from funders or program personnel would not deter him from reporting what he found.
