6. Internationale classificaties in de gezondheidszorg

Samenvatting

De International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) is een internationaal veelgebruikte classificatie voor het beschrijven van gezondheidscomponenten. De ICF biedt een begrippenkader voor communicatie tussen beroepsgroepen en werkvelden, en voor internationale vergelijking van gegevens. De ICF heeft vele toepassingen en het is belangrijk dat professionals zich bewust zijn van de redenen om een classificatie te gebruiken en van de manier waarop ze deze gebruiken. Er zijn overeenkomsten en verschillen tussen de begrippen in de ICF, de begrippen uit de ergotherapiemodellen en de begrippen uit het nieuwe concept ‘positieve gezondheid’. De vele kritiekpunten, de maatschappelijke ontwikkelingen en het nieuwe concept van positieve gezondheid hebben inmiddels geleid tot voorstellen om de ICF aan te passen.
