Samenvatting

Een spier verbindt twee botdelen met elkaar en maakt het mogelijk dat deze ten opzichte van elkaar kunnen bewegen. De pees vormt de overgang van spier naar bot en ze zet de contractie van de spier om in een beweging van het botstuk.

Er zijn tot dusverre 19 typen collageen bekend. In bindweefsel wordt voornamelijk type I, II en III gevonden. Pezen en ligamenten bevatten voornamelijk collageentype I, terwijl kraakbeen vooral collageentype II bevat. Collageentype III wordt aangelegd op die plaatsen waar het bindweefsel beschadigd is.

Collageentype III werd vroeger aangeduid als reticulaire vezels (= netvormige vezels).

De term ‘tendinose’ wordt in Nederlandstalige landen nog weinig gebruikt. Het verdient aanbeveling om deze term (Engels: tendinosis) te gebruiken om verwarring met ‘echte’ ontstekingsprocessen in een pees (tendinitis) te voorkomen.

Door middel van scleroserende injecties worden bloedvaatjes vernietigd. De onderzoekers gebruikten hiervoor polidocanol, een middel dat onder meer wordt toegepast bij de bestrijding van spataderen.

Principe van isotonische krachttraining: de externe last (bijvoorbeeld een halter) die moet worden verplaatst verandert niet van gewicht tijdens het herhaald uitvoeren van de oefening. De term is verwarrend aangezien de ‘tonus’ van de spier altijd verandert tijdens ‘isotonische’ training. Deze oefeningen zijn eenvoudig uit te voeren zonder gebruik van geavanceerde apparatuur.
