Samenvatting

Hoofdstuk 1 vormt de inleiding van het boek over peesaandoeningen. Dit hoofdstuk bevat de meest relevante basiskennis over pezen en peesaandoeningen. Eerst wordt de opbouw van een pees beschreven en geïllustreerd. Daarna volgt een overzicht van de meest voorkomende aandoeningen die een pees kunnen treffen. Behandeld worden achtereenvolgens de traumatische tendinitis, de ruptuur, de tendinitis door overbelasting, de tendinitis calcarea, auto-immuun tendinitiden, tendinose, enthesitis, apofysitis, het frictiesyndroom en de peesschedeontsteking.

Retinaculum: bandvormige structuur die een orgaan of weefseldeel op de plaats houdt.

Enthesitis = inflammatie ter plaatse van de aanhechtingsplaats van pezen, ligamenten of gewrichtskapsels.

Paratenon is los bindweefsel dat zich rondom de pees bevindt.

Piëzo-elektrisch effect: door vervorming van een materiaal (hier: cel) wordt een elektrische spanning geproduceerd.
