69. Infantiel hemangioom

Samenvatting

Infantiele hemangiomen (IH) zijn de meest voorkomende vaattumoren bij kinderen. Ze worden gekarakteriseerd door abnormale proliferatie van endotheelcellen en afwijkende vasculaire architectuur. Ze ontstaan in de eerste weken na de geboorte (maar niet later dan de 12^e week), en vertonen vaak een snelle groei in de eerste 4 tot 6 maanden, gevolgd door een plateaufase met daarna spontane regressie. Vaak zijn IH onschuldig, maar vanwege de locatie van het IH en complicaties is bij 5–10 % het IH niet onschuldig.
