Implementation of fall prevention in older adults: an evaluation of programs using ‘Halt! U valt’
There is clear evidence that falls in older people can be prevented with appropriately designed intervention programs. The impact of these programs depends, among other things, on the extent to which the target population is reached, the choice of effective interventions and the quality of the way professionals offer those interventions. ‘Halt! U valt’ offers a structured approach to deal with these key elements when designing and implementing a fall prevention program. In this article the quality of fall-prevention programs that used ‘Halt! U valt’ is discussed based on the results of an evaluation in nine districts in the Netherlands.
