  • Hypertensiebehandeling is belangrijk voor preventie van micro- en macrovasculaire complicaties van diabetes type 2.
  • Voor hypertensiebehandeling verwijst de nieuwe NHG-Standaard Diabetes mellitus type 2 naar de NHG-Standaard Cardiovasculair risicomanagement.
  • De streefwaarde is 140 mmHg systolisch
  • Bij ouderen (> 80 jaar) is de streefwaarde 160 mmHg.
  • Thiazidediuretica zijn de eerstekeusmiddelen.
  • Bij nierschade zijn ACE-remmers (angiotensine-converterend-enzym-remmers) of A2-receptorantagonisten de eerstekeusmiddelen.
