56. Hyperkeratose van de voet: eelt, eeltknobbels en eeltkloven

Samenvatting

Hyperkeratose van de voeten, eeltknobbels of callus, is een verhoorning van de huid, vaak veroorzaakt door druk- of wrijfkrachten. Callus is wit-geel, voelt hard aan en vertoont soms kloven. Meestal ontstaat callus op de bal van de voet of op de hiel, plaatsen waar de huid op benige uitsteeksels drukt. Ook bij standsafwijkingen van de tenen kan op de drukpunten een dikke eeltlaag ontstaan. In tegenstelling tot eksterogen (clavi, likdoorns) heeft eelt geen kern of ‘pit’.
