Hoe gaan angst en depressie samen met ADHD?

Samenvatting

Comorbiditeit, de aanwezigheid van twee of meer stoornissen bij een patiënt, doet onmiddellijk vragen rijzen over de mogelijke verbanden tussen deze stoornissen. Gaat het om verschillende pathologieën die op een bepaald ogenblik samen voorkomen? Faciliteert de ene stoornis het ontwikkelen van een tweede stoornis? Hebben die stoornissen een gemeenschappelijke onderliggende pathologie of hebben ze een identieke genetische oorsprong? Is comorbiditeit vooral te wijten aan ons diagnostische classificatiesysteem? In het geval van een ontwikkelingsstoornis die levenslang haar stempel drukt op het psychisch functioneren zijn deze vragen extra moeilijk te beantwoorden.
