Hoe denkt men tegenwoordig over de therapie met digoxine?

Samenvatting

Sinds William Withering’s monografie uit 1785 over het gebruik en de toxiciteit van de bladeren van het vingerhoedskruid, zijn de digitalisglycosiden toegepast voor de behandeling van waterzucht, tegenwoordig congestief hartfalen geheten. In de therapie van het congestief hartfalen is nu veel meer mogelijk. Het is dan ook zaak een goed oordeel te hebben over de bijdrage die digoxine kan leveren in het farmacotherapeutisch arsenaal. Eerst komt de plaats van digoxine bij hartfalen met een systolische disfunctie aan de orde. Vervolgens wordt ingegaan op het gebruik van digoxine bij atriumfibrilleren.
