Het overbruggen van de kloof tussen klinisch onderzoek en de praktijk van kinder- en jeugdpsychotherapie

Hoe nu verder?

Samenvatting

In de afgelopen tien jaar zijn in Nederland successen geboekt in het overbruggen van de kloof tussen klinisch onderzoek bij jeugdigen en de praktijk. Therapieprotocollen, onderzocht op werkzaamheid in een laboratoriumsetting, werden gedissemineerd en in toenemende mate onderzocht op effectiviteit in de reguliere klinische praktijk. Routinematig meten, met als doel het therapieproces te beïnvloeden en het evidence-based werk van de therapeuten te stimuleren, kreeg een steeds prominenter rol. In dit artikel beschrijft de auteur dat we met de momenteel beschikbare kennis nog grotere stappen kunnen maken in het verstevigen van deze brug tussen onderzoek en praktijk. Het wordt belangrijk dat zowel onderzoekers als therapeuten zich meer laten leiden door innovatieve kennis gerelateerd aan: (a) de werkingsmechanismen en moderatoren van therapieresultaten, (b) single-case experimentele designs als een alternatieve manier om onderzoek te verrichten in de klinische praktijk, en (c) het optimaliseren van metingen van het therapieproces. Een grotere interesse in deze onderwerpen zal er ook toe leiden dat het profiel van de scientist-practitioner concreter en daardoor makkelijker realiseerbaar wordt.
