Samenvatting

Op 17 juni 2013 promoveerde Meinou Theunissen op het proefschrift ‘The early detection of psychosocial problems in children aged 0 to 6 years by Dutch preventive child Healthcare: professionals and their tools’. Het proefschrift richt zich op de vroegsignalering door de jeugdgezondheidszorg van emotionele en gedragsproblemen (psychosociale problemen) van kinderen in de leeftijd van nul tot en met zes jaar. Belangrijke vraag daarbij is of korte oudervragenlijsten de signalering door de jeugdgezondheidszorg kunnen verbeteren. Uit het proefschrift blijkt dat de kwaliteit van de vroegsignalering van psychosociale problemen door de jeugdgezondheidszorg zonder gebruik van instrumenten niet optimaal is: men kan niet vertrouwen op het klinisch oordeel van individuele jeugdgezondheidszorg (JGZ) medewerkers alleen. Korte oudervragenlijsten waarvan de validiteit is aangetoond, kunnen de signalering van psychosociale problemen aanzienlijk verbeteren.
