Interviews met leerkrachten over hun relaties met kleuters met gedragsproblemen

samenvatting

De leraar-leerlingrelatie speelt een belangrijke rol in de schoolse aanpassing van kinderen. In het diagnostische proces is dan ook behoefte aan instrumenten ter objectivering van de kwaliteit van leraar-leerlingrelaties. Het Leerkracht Relatie Interview (lri) verschaft inzicht in de opvattingen en gevoelens van leerkrachten betreffende hun relatie met een specifieke leerling. Onderzoek in Nederlandse kleuterklassen laat zien dat leerkrachten meer boosheid en hulpeloosheid ervaren in relaties met kinderen met externaliserend gedrag. Naarmate de gedragsproblematiek ernstiger wordt, blijken leerkrachten bovendien minder positieve gevoelens te ontlenen aan de relatie en meer moeite te hebben met het afstemmen van hun pedagogisch handelen op de specifieke behoeften van leerlingen. De bevindingen ondersteunen de waarde van het lri voor de praktijk. Er wordt uiteengezet hoe het lri kan bijdragen aan handelingsgerichte diagnostiek.
