Samenvatting

Dat een kind ook donor kan worden, is vaak onbekend. Toch gaat orgaan- en weefseldonatie evenzeer over kinderen. Kinderen staan immers ook lang op de wachtlijst voor een transplantatie en zijn vaak alleen maar geholpen met een orgaan van een ander kind. Orgaandonatie in de kindergeneeskunde is een gevoelig onderwerp dat specifieke aandacht vraagt. Welke factoren zijn van invloed op het kind als donor? Een multidisciplinaire aanpak blijkt van essentieel belang.
