Samenvatting

Niet alle, in de media, als ‘nieuwe’ ziekteverwekkers aangekondigde species voldoen aan de definitie van ‘nieuw’. Het betreft soms tot op dat ogenblik niet-geclassificeerde ziekteverwekkers zoals destijds de non-A-non-B-hepatiti. Daarnaast ook microorganismen die al lang bekend zijn maar die op verschillend manieren kleine wijzigingen hebben ondergaan Wat is nieuw?
