Samenvatting

Kinesiotaping is een veel gebruikte vorm van taping onder (para)medici. Het zou het lichaamseigen herstelproces nabootsen en spieren en gewrichten stabiliseren. Eerder onderzoek wijst uit dat er geen eenduidig wetenschappelijk bewijs is voor het effect van kinesiotaping op pijnvermindering bij musculoskeletale klachten. Twee systematische reviews concluderen dat kinesiotaping voor significant meer pijnvermindering kan zorgen in vergelijking met géén therapie, maar deze verschillen zijn niet klinisch relevant. Kinesiotaping heeft geen significant groter effect op pijnvermindering dan andere therapieën, zoals stretchen of een andere tapingmethode.
