Samenvatting

Het individuele diagnostisch profiel van een kind is het vertrekpunt van elke interventie, ook bij autisme. Het transdiagnostisch doel bij élk kind met psychiatrische problematiek is stagnatie in de ontwikkeling te verminderen en zo naar eigen mogelijkheden toe te komen aan zijn ontwikkelingstaken. Daarnaast is een overstijgend doel om het welbevinden van het kind en het gezin te vergroten. Bij autisme is specifiek het doel om de sociale communicatie en flexibiliteit te vergroten en de bijna altijd gepaard gaande prikkelregulatieproblemen te verminderen. De weg daarnaartoe is sterk afhankelijk van factoren bij het kind en de omgeving. In dit hoofdstuk wordt besproken welke interventierichtingen er op het gebied van het kind en de omgeving zijn, hoe op basis van een diagnostisch profiel passende doelen worden geformuleerd en hoe vervolgens middelen en methodieken gekozen worden om die doelen te bereiken.
