Het depressief syndroom: neuropsychologische patronen en determinanten nader belicht

Abstract

Het depressief syndroom is een van de meest voorkomende psychiatrische aandoeningen. Problemen met aandacht, geheugen en met andere cognitieve vaardigheden worden veelvuldig gerapporteerd door depressieve cliënten en zijn invaliderend van aard. De cognitieve problematiek wordt in het algemeen (ten dele) geobjectiveerd middels neuropsychologisch onderzoek. Er is nog weinig overeenstemming bereikt over de aanwezigheid van een karakteristiek patroon van cognitieve klachten bij depressie. Voorts is tot op heden weinig aandacht besteed aan de mogelijkheid dat cognitieve problemen een voorspeller zouden kunnen zijn voor depressie. Dit artikel gaat in op deze aspecten.
