Herstellen van een eetstoornis

Het patiëntenperspectief

In onderzoek naar zaken die de genezing van een eetstoornis zichtbaarmaken, wordt weinig aandacht besteed aan de visie van patiënten op hun herstel. In deze studie is getracht om met behulp van de Evaluatielijst Behandeling Eetstoornissen het patiëntenperspectief rondom herstel beter in beeld te brengen. Geconcludeerd kan worden dat volgens patiënten het stopzetten van eetbuien en compensatiegedrag, indien aanwezig, het belangrijkste element is voor herstel. Naast dit gedragsmatige criterium achten zij de volgende psychische aspecten van belang: het vinden van de motivatie om de eetstoornis op te lossen, het ontwikkelen van inzicht en autonomie (vooral het vergroten van zelfvertrouwen en verbeteren van de lichaamsbeleving), het ontvangen van sociale steun en het verwerken van pijnlijke ervaringen.
