12. Handelingsgebieden, een inleiding

Samenvatting

In het dagelijks leven ben je voortdurend, alleen en vaak met anderen, betrokken in activiteiten, ook als je ‘vrij’ bent en eigenlijk niets hoeft te doen. Alle activiteiten die mensen op een dag doen worden binnen ergotherapie ingedeeld in handelingsgebieden. In dit boek hanteren we de volgende handelingsgebieden: ‘wonen en zorgen’, ‘leren en werken’ en ‘spelen en vrije tijd’. Dit hoofdstuk gaat over deze handelingsgebieden en beschrijft ook andere mogelijkheden om het dagelijks handelen in te delen. Het gaat in op het onderzoek naar tijdsbesteding (time-use) in België en Nederland. Verder beschrijft het de positieve of negatieve waarde en de betekenis die dagelijkse activiteiten voor mensen hebben, een belangrijk aspect van het kerndomein van ergotherapie. Daarnaast wordt ingegaan op de balans die mensen ervaren in het dagelijks handelen (occupational balance) en het hoofdstuk eindigt met het uitgesloten zijn van het dagelijks handelen (occupational deprivation) op basis van externe factoren.
