Groepscohesie: een empirisch ondersteunde therapeutische factor?

semenvatting

In de onderzoeksliteratuur over groepspsychotherapie wordt een centrale rol toebedeeld aan het therapeutische effect van groepscohesie. Het onderzoek naar groepscohesie wordt gekenmerkt door zeer uiteenlopende onderzoeksmethoden en definities van het begrip. In dit overzichtsartikel wordt het concept ‘cohesie’ theoretisch gespecificeerd en worden onderzoeksbevindingen op kritische wijze gepresenteerd. Tevens wordt een selectief overzicht gegeven van de moeizame speurtocht naar de essentiële facetten en dimensies van het complexe begrip ‘groepscohesie’, waarbij het accent ligt op recente onderzoeksresultaten. Ten slotte worden de door onderzoek gesuggereerde richtlijnen voor het bewerkstelligen van groepscohesie toegelicht.
