Samenvatting

In deze bijdrage wordt een overzicht gegeven van de zes kernprincipes van de NASMHPD om vrijheidsbeperking te verminderen. Vrijheidsbeperkende maatregelen worden geassocieerd met diverse negatieve uitkomsten. De auteurs roepen op tot implementatie van deze zes principes in de (dag)klinische kinder- en jeugdpsychiatrie en jeugdzorg, omdat die een samenhangend beleid vormen dat tot aanzienlijk minder vrijheidsbeperking leidt. Ook het speciaal onderwijs kan deze strategieën implementeren.
