GHB-detoxificatie in Nederland

Samenvatting

Het dagelijks intensief gebruiken van GHB kan leiden tot GHB-afhankelijkheid. In 2009 nam de hulpvraag naar begeleide GHB-detoxificatie in Nederland aanzienlijk toe. De onthoudingssymptomen tijdens detoxificatie konden ernstig zijn, maar detoxificatiemethoden waren onvoldoende onderzocht. Er was geen richtlijn voor GHB-detoxificatie voorhanden, die toepasbaar was in de verslavingszorg. In dit artikel geven we een overzicht van de ontwikkeling van GHB-detoxificatie in Nederland, bespreken we de dilemma’s binnen de klinische praktijk, besteden we aandacht aan de landelijke GHB monitor en plaatsen we dit in het perspectief van de aanwezige (inter)nationale literatuur over GHB-detoxificatie. We sluiten af met aanbevelingen voor de toepassing en verdere ontwikkeling van de GHB-detoxificatie.
