4. Gezondheidsbevordering en gezondheidsvoorlichting

Samenvatting

Gezondheidsbevordering en gezondheidsvoorlichting zijn gericht op het bevorderen van een gezonde leefstijl en gewenst(er) gezondheidsgedrag. Het doel van intentionele gezondheidsvoorlichting is het veranderen van gedrag dat de gezondheid schaadt. Het doel van faciliterende gezondheidsvoorlichting is kennisoverdracht, maar het vergroten van kennis is op zichzelf onvoldoende voor gedragsverandering. Intervention Mapping is een protocol met zes stappen om op basis van evidence een interventie te ontwikkelen en uit te voeren. Intervention Mapping start met het needs assessment, waarbij met behulp van de Theory of Planned Behavior en het ASE-model inzicht wordt gegeven in de achterliggende redenen van mensen om zich op een bepaalde manier te gedragen. Deze achterliggende redenen, gedragsdeterminanten genoemd, vragen veelal doelgerichte verandering, om gezonder gedrag, een gezondere leefstijl bij de patiënt mogelijk te maken. In Intervention Mapping stap 2 worden de performance- of gedragsdoelen, samen met de change- of veranderdoelen bepaald en in een matrix geplaatst; dit biedt een overzicht van de doelen van de interventie. In Intervention Mapping stap 3 wordt een selectie gemaakt van de methoden die geschikt lijken om de doelen te behalen en welke geschikt lijken om de gedragsdeterminanten te veranderen. In Intervention Mapping stap 4 kan het model van gedragsverandering handvatten bieden om deze stap te concretiseren. Het model van gedragsverandering biedt een logische opeenvolging van methoden die de kans op gedragsverandering en gedragsbehoud vergroten, waarbij de methoden in een proces zijn geplaatst. Een training hierbij maakt de stappen in het proces van gedragsverandering naar gedragsbehoud concreet. In stap 5 wordt een adoptie- en implementatieplan ontwikkeld voor de uitvoering van de interventie. Ten slotte wordt in stap 6 een evaluatieplan ontwikkeld. De evaluatie is gericht op het beoordelen van zowel de effectiviteit van de interventie als van het gehele proces dat daaraan is voorafgegaan.
