Abstract

Wereldwijd is er een toenemende aandacht voor hartritmestoornissen, enerzijds omdat de bevolking ouder wordt, anderzijds omdat klachten vaker gemeld worden en er duidelijke verbeteringen zijn in de behandeling daarvan. Door een effectievere behandeling van het acuut coronair syndroom (ACS) is de prevalentie van ventriculaire ritmestoornissen veel lager geworden, maar omdat patiënten uiteindelijk vaak hartfalen krijgen en langer leven komen daar weer andere ritmeproblemen voor terug.
