Samenvatting

Ongeveer 1 op de 3 vrouwen wereldwijd krijgt in haar leven te maken met fysiek of seksueel geweld (WHO & LSHTM, 2010; Devries, 2013). We spreken van gender-based violence omdat dit geweld ongelijkmatig is verdeeld over de seksen: het treft vooral vrouwen en meisjes, waarbij er (bijna) altijd sprake is van machtsongelijkheid tussen dader en slachtoffer.
