Geïsoleerde fractuur van het processus coracoideus bij een adolescent: een case report

Samenvatting

Geïsoleerde fracturen van het processus coracoideus komen zeer weinig voor bij adolescenten en worden meestal conservatief behandeld. Fracturen van de basis van het processus vereisen meestal operatief ingrijpen vanwege de veelvuldig voorkomende bijkomende letsels en dubbele onderbrekingen van het superior shoulder suspensory complex (SSSC). Aanvullende röntgenopnamen, CT- en MRI-scans kunnen nodig zijn om tot een goede diagnose te komen. Het niet onderkennen van deze diagnose kan een blijvende beperking in schouderfunctie geven in geval een symptomatische non-union ontstaat. Ook kan operatief ingrijpen zijn geïndiceerd.

Deze casus betreft een patiënt met een fractuur van de basis van het processus coracoideus, die conservatief werd behandeld.
