1. Gedragstherapie bij kinderen en jeugdigen: geschiedenis, kenmerken en overwegingen bij het gedragstherapeutische proces

Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk worden de geschiedenis van de kindergedragstherapie, de theoretische basis en de hoofdkenmerken ervan geschetst. Belangrijke overwegingen bij het gedragstherapeutische proces – van aanmelding via probleemanalyse, de formulering van probleemsamenhang en de keuze van behandeldoelen tot de feitelijke behandeling en de evaluatie ervan – worden besproken. Ook de ontwikkelingen die de praktijk van de kindergedragstherapie de afgelopen decennia heeft doorgemaakt, zoals het modulaire en het transdiagnostische behandelen, komen aan de orde. De specifieke kenmerken van gedragstherapie bij kinderen en jeugdigen, zoals het ontwikkelingsperspectief en het werken met ouders en school, worden besproken. Ook het spanningsveld tussen het gebruik van protocollen enerzijds en het behandelen van het kind als uniek individu krijgt in dit hoofdstuk aandacht. Ten slotte wordt het belang van herhaald meten benadrukt in het perspectief van het streven naar een evidence-based cognitief-gedragstherapeutische praktijk.
