Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk zal worden ingegaan op het belang van gedragsgenetisch onderzoek voor de jeugdzorg. In gedragsgenetisch onderzoek wordt een poging gedaan greep te krijgen op genetische factoren, die naast omgevingsfactoren het gedrag van mensen beïnvloeden. Gedragsgenetisch onderzoek in de jeugdzorg is tot op heden sterk onderbelicht gebleven, terwijl recentelijk vooral op het terrein van de psychopathologie veel onderzoek verricht is met belangrijke implicaties voor de diagnostiek en behandeling.
