Samenvatting

Gebitsproblemen kunnen zowel bij het eigen gebit als bij een prothese ontstaan. Problemen met het eigen gebit zijn vooral aan cariës gerelateerd; dat wordt ook wel benoemd als ‘caviteit’, ‘een gaatje’ of ‘tandbederf’. Bij cariës is het tandglazuur en soms ook het tandbeen aangetast door bacteriën. Wanneer de ontsteking dieper is, kan een pulpitis ontstaan, een ontsteking van het merg van de tand.
