Gastro-oesofageale reflux bij zuigelingen

Samenvatting

Bij gastro-oesofageale reflux is er terugvloed van maaginhoud in de slokdarm, met of zonder regurgitatie en spugen. Als dit asymptomatisch is, is er sprake van gastro-oesofageale reflux (GER). Van gastro-oesofageale refluxziekte (GERZ) wordt gesproken als het leidt tot hinderlijke klachten en/of complicaties bij de zuigeling, zoals prikkelbaar gedrag, voedselweigering, groeivertraging, het opgeven van bloedsliertjes, slaapproblemen, apparent life threatening episodes (ALTE), et cetera.¹
