When parents learn their child has autism, after recovering from the initial shock, they want to know where they can turn for guidance in better understanding their child’s condition, the steps they should take in managing and reducing their symptoms, and promoting their child’s development. Parents are especially vulnerable to false promises of miraculous cures, a very old problem in the field of developmental disabilities. …
