Samenvatting

Afstaande oren worden in de volksmond ook wel zeiloren of flaporen genoemd. In de literatuur is de definitie voor een ‘afstaand oor’ als bij jongens het bovenste deel van de oorschelp meer dan 21,5 mm of het onderste deel meer dan 20,0 mm van het mastoïd afstaat en bij meisjes bij 17,5 mm en 15,5 mm. Een andere definitie die ook wel gebruikt wordt, is dat de hoek tussen de oorschelp en het hoofd meer dan 25 graden is. Uiteindelijk is het een subjectief probleem: een flapoor is pas een probleem als de patiënt er last van heeft.
