Ex–neonatale couveusepatiëntjes vijf en tien jaar later

Een follow–up–onderzoek naar mogelijke gedragsproblemen

Doel van dit onderzoek was het analyseren van mogelijke gedragsproblemen van ex–neonatale couveusekinderen op vijf– en tienjarige leeftijd, thuis en op school. De oudergedragsbeoordelingen via de Child Behavior Checklist verschilden op beide meetmomenten niet van de normatieve data. De leerkrachtbeoordelingen via de Teacher Report Form vielen ongunstiger uit, vooral bij de jongens: op vijfjarige leeftijd zowel op internaliserend als externaliserend gedrag, op tienjarige leeftijd alleen nog op internaliserend gedrag. Individueel bleek er nauwelijks sprake van continuïteit in gedragsproblemen. Op grond van deze bevindingen is de algemene prognose voor deze groep kinderen gunstiger dan veelal wordt verwacht. Bij voortgezet onderzoek zal daarom meer nadruk gelegd moeten worden op de positieve gedragsontwikkeling van deze kinderen in relatie tot factoren die deze ontwikkeling bevorderen.
