Etnische verschillen in risicofactoren

Verschillen tussen Nederlandse, Marokkaanse, Surinaamse, Turkse en Antilliaanse jongeren in risicofactoren voor recidive

Samenvatting

In deze studie werden etnische verschillen onderzocht in de prevalentie en het belang van risicofactoren voor recidive. De onderzoeksgroep bestond uit Nederlandse (n = 542), Marokkaanse (n = 292), Surinaamse (n = 133), Turkse (n = 97) en Antilliaanse jongeren (n = 72) die een strafbaar feit hadden gepleegd. Chikwadraattoetsen, correlaties en logistische regressieanalyses werden uitgevoerd. Verschillen tussen de etnische groepen werden gevonden in zowel de prevalentie als de impact van risicofactoren. Bij Nederlandse jongeren bleken veruit de meeste risicofactoren significant samen te hangen met recidive (thuissituatie, vrijetijdsbesteding, school, vrienden en mentale gezondheid), terwijl bij etnische minderheidsgroepen slechts enkele risicofactoren samenhingen met recidive. Als gevolg van de gevonden verschillen zijn gedragsinterventies gericht op deze risicofactoren mogelijk minder effectief in het voorkomen van recidive bij jongeren uit etnische minderheidsgroepen.
