Samenvatting

Educatie van zorgverleners is onderdeel van veel implementatiestrategieën en kan worden aangeboden in de vorm van educatief materiaal, grootschalige of kleinschalige scholingsbijeenkomsten, educatieve praktijkbezoeken, of vormen van e-learning. Het effect van scholing moet in het kader van implementatie worden afgemeten aan feitelijk handelen in de praktijk of verbetering van zorguitkomsten De effecten van scholing op professioneel gebied zijn wisselend, gemiddeld bescheiden maar desalniettemin relevant. De beschikbare Cochrane reviews van gerandomiseerde studies naar educatie van zorgverleners suggereren dat het gemiddelde effect van scholing tussen circa 5 % verbetering van specifieke aspecten van het professioneel handelen ligt. Mogelijke determinanten van effectiviteit zijn onder meer langere tijdsduur, kleinere groep deelnemers, behoeftepeiling, actieve deelname en betrokkenheid van opinieleiders.
