Samenvatting

Educatie is onderdeel van veel implementatiestrategieën en kan worden aangeboden in de vorm van educatief materiaal, grootschalige of kleinschalige scholingsbijeenkomsten, educatieve praktijkbezoeken, e-learning of opinieleiders die scholing verzorgen. Het effect van scholing moet worden afgemeten aan feitelijk handelen in de praktijk, omdat kennis en vaardigheden slechts beperkt gerelateerd zijn aan het feitelijk handelen. Naar scholing is veel onderzoek gedaan. De effecten van scholing op professioneel gebied zijn wisselend en gemiddeld bescheiden. De beschikbare Cochrane reviews suggereren dat het gemiddelde effect van scholing tussen circa 2 % en 10 % verbetering van specifieke aspecten van het professioneel handelen ligt. Mogelijke determinanten van effectiviteit zijn onder meer langere tijdsduur, kleinere groep deelnemers, behoeftepeiling, actieve deelname en betrokkenheid van opinieleiders. Meer onderzoek naar deze en andere determinanten is echter nodig.
