Samenvatting

Eczeem komt bij ongeveer 5 % van de volwassenen in Nederland voor en is daarmee de meest voorkomende huidaandoening. Eczeem wordt omschreven als een jeukende, polymorfe huidaandoening met roodheid, oedeem, papels, blaasjes, korstjes, schilfers en/of lichenificatie als gevolg van een niet-infectieuze ontstekingsreactie van de huid. De meest voorkomende eczeemsoorten zijn constitutioneel eczeem, seborroïsch eczeem, nummulair eczeem, hypostatisch eczeem, allergisch contacteczeem, ortho-ergisch contacteczeem, dyshidrotisch eczeem, intertrigineus eczeem, tylotisch eczeem, asteatotisch eczeem, lichen simplex, juveniele plantaire dermatose, pityriasis alba. De eczeemvorm en het stadium (acuut, subacuut, chronisch) of, zoals bij constitutioneel eczeem, de ernst van dit eczeem (mild, matig, ernstig, volgens de TIS-score), bepalen welk behandelplan het best gevolgd kan worden. De diagnostiek is klinisch en berust op de voorgeschiedenis van de patiënt, de anamnese, alsmede het beeld en de lokalisatie van het eczeem. Door het combineren van deze gegevens is het meestal goed mogelijk een diagnose te stellen, maar de verschillende eczeemsoorten zijn niet altijd scherp van elkaar te onderscheiden.
