Drop-out onder patiënten in klinische psychotherapie voor persoonlijkheidspathologie

Samenvatting

Dit artikel is het verslag van een exploratief, retrospectief onderzoek naar drop-out onder patiënten die een klinische psychotherapie zijn aangegaan. Bijna eenderde van de patiënten breekt de behandeling voortijdig af. De meeste drop-outs staken de behandeling vroeg, binnen grofweg drie maanden. Drop-out blijkt geassocieerd met het ontbreken van een beroepskwalificatie en het ontbreken van een as-I-stoornis. Ook patiënten met een cluster-B-persoonlijkheidsstoornis neigen er vaker toe de behandeling voortijdig te staken, vooral wanneer zij niet ook nog een as-I-stoornis hadden. Tot slot wordt prospectief onderzoek bepleit dat gestuurd wordt door duidelijke, klinisch-theoretische hypothesen.
