Health minister Anne Milton is well-placed to judge whether nurses who live in relatively expensive areas should be paid more than those in poorer parts of the country. She was a nurse in London and the south east before embarking on a career in politics, and would have been well-versed in the case for national pay bargaining when she was an RCN steward.
