The long-awaited results of last year’s research assessment exercise (RAE) received mixed reactions. However, we at Nurse Researcher feel there is much to be celebrated. More nursing departments were considered in the exercise than in the previous assessment, larger groups of staff were entered from individual establishments and overall scores improved substantially (for more information see the RAE website: www.rae.ac.uk)
