Nothing to ‘fix’

Rob Mirow Community nurse specialist practitioner, Trafford community learning disability team, Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

The death of his sister helped Rob Mirow realise that the best support for bereaved clients is simply to be with them

When my sister died, initially I was shocked and then I just wanted to sit with the fact that she was no longer here, except in memory. I took compassionate leave from work to give myself the space and time to come to terms with what had happened. I felt the need to stay in the silence and stillness of the present moment, to experience the reality of her death. There was nothing more to do.
