Samenvatting

Bij zwakbegaafde patiënten adviseren wij een multidimensionele blik dan wel een multidimensioneel onderzoek om te komen tot een geïntegreerde beschrijvende diagnose die rekening houdt met de sociale en emotionele ontwikkeling en de praktische vaardigheden van uw patiënt. Hoe uitvoerig de diagnostiek moet zijn, hangt af van de complexiteit, ernst en interactie van de psychiatrische stoornis en de zwakbegaafdheid en wordt mede beïnvloed door uw ervaring in het werken met deze groep patiënten. In dit hoofdstuk beschrijven wij hoe u met een multidimensionele blik naar uw patiënt kunt kijken en welke onderzoeken er passen binnen uitgebreide multidimensionele diagnostiek. In principe volgt u daarbij bestaande richtlijnen en protocollen. De manier waarop u echter de richtlijnen en protocollen inzet, is afhankelijk van en aangepast aan uw patiënt. Wij noemen dit geprotocolleerd maatwerk.
