Samenvatting

Mensen met EPA hebben vaak door de loop der jaren verschillende classificaties gekregen. In dit hoofdstuk worden de huidige classificatiesystemen in perspectief geplaatst. Mensen met EPA hebben ook vaak problemen op verschillende levensgebieden. Het hoofdstuk vraagt aandacht voor het systematisch en doelgericht (her)evalueren van verschillende symptoomdomeinen. Het biedt daarbij een aantal instrumenten en reikt een aantal adviezen aan. Een regelmatige herziening van de psychiatrische, sociaal-maatschappelijke, en somatische diagnostiek is nodig om zorgbehoefte, hulpvraag en zorgaanbod goed op elkaar afgestemd te houden. Het belang van samenwerking met ketenpartners (familie, huisarts, wijkteams en wijkagent etc.) wordt eveneens voor het voetlicht gebracht. Uiteindelijk is het belangrijk om zowel de psychische klachten als de problemen op verschillende levensgebieden binnen de context van het unieke levensverhaal van de individuele patiënt te duiden.
