Abstract

Dementie wordt per definitie gekenmerkt door cognitieve stoornissen in twee of meer domeinen, is nagenoeg altijd progressief en leidt onherroepelijk tot een ernstige inperking van de zelfstandigheid. De classificatie van de verschillende dementieën wordt bepaald door de aard van de symptomen.
