Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk worden de essentiële onderdelen van de anamnese, het lichamelijk onderzoek en de aanvullende onderzoeken in de zwangerschap en het kraambed beschreven. Het doel van de zwangerschapscontroles is het tijdig opsporen van gezondheidsrisico’s die het gevolg kunnen zijn van de zwangerschap of die de zwangerschap bedreigen. Centraal bij het de zorg voor de zwangere staat de anamnese. Deze vormt de basis voor een risicoschatting en voor voorlichting over de uitwerking van de zwangerschap op de maternale conditie en vice versa. Daarnaast geven het lichamelijk onderzoek en het aanvullend onderzoek, waaronder echografie, cardiotocografie en prenatale diagnostiek, informatie over de ontwikkeling en conditie van de foetus. Aan het eind van het hoofdstuk worden de belangrijkste aandachtspunten van het onderzoek van de kraamvrouw beschreven. Een aantal veelvoorkomende complicaties in de zwangerschap en het kraambed, die potentieel een negatieve invloed kunnen hebben op de gezondheid van moeder en/of kind, worden behandeld in relatie tot bevindingen bij het lichamelijk onderzoek.
