8. De zorg voor patiënten met hoofd-halstumoren

Samenvatting

De zorg voor patiënten met hoofd-halstumoren is complex en een goede samenwerking tussen verschillende medische en paramedische disciplines is noodzakelijk voor het leveren van kwalitatief goede zorg. De Nederlandse Werkgroep Hoofd-Hals Tumoren (NWHHT), een samenwerkingsverband van de hoofd-hals oncologische werkgroepen van de academische ziekenhuizen en categorale oncologische ziekenhuizen, heeft ingezet op registratie van kwaliteit van zorg. Het doel hiervan is de kwaliteit van zorg voor patiënten met hoofd-halstumoren in Nederland te verbeteren. Gezien de multidisciplinaire zorgketen en de huidige ontwikkelingen rondom het meer centraal zetten van de patiënt in de zorg, wordt deze kwaliteitsregistratie opgezet vanuit drie verschillende perspectieven: medisch, paramedisch en patiëntperspectief. Aan de basis van de registratie staan kwaliteitsindicatoren. Dit zijn elementen om de kwaliteit van zorg te meten. Met de resultaten kan de kwaliteit van zorg voor patiënten met een hoofd-halstumor inzichtelijk gemaakt, en verbeterd worden.
